So How does Catch.info work and how can I set a backorder to catch domains?
We are trying to give you here a quick while still complete insight on how we do business and how you can do your backorders to catch domains. Here is a short explanations of essential terms:
Catching: Means registering a domain automatically right after it has become available for registration.
Backordering: Means the same as catching.
Catching: Means the same as catching.
Snaping: Means the same as catching.
Top level: Means the extension of a domain. E.g. .at, .ch, .se.
Registry
: Means the authority that is allowed to grant rights on certain top levels.
Nic
: Means the same as registry.
Droping : Means that a domain which is droping is about to become available for registration again.
Droplist : Means a list of all domains droping under a certain top level.
Section 1 | Registration
Section 2 | Login
Section 3 | Ordering
We advise to use the order system as favourites to mark any domain that seems interesting to you on the first glance while checking our droplists. After that you may go to your orders summary here and extract these domains that are interesting to you at the second glance by canceling these orders on domains, that don´t seem interesting on the second glance any more.
By raising your order and hence your minimum bid on that domain you got the option to take direct influence on our catch software. The higher you set your order the higher the performance our software tries to catch that domain resulting in a higher likelihood of our software being able to successfully catch the domain on your behalf.
We strongly advise to do so on highest quality domains, while we don´t advise to so on regular domains.
Fees will only occur if we had been able to successfully catch a domain on your behalf.
Section 4 | SUCCESS
Option 1 would be that no one else ordered the domain which results in an invoice being created for you automatically. After that invoice has been payed the domain will be transfered to your account at our partner registrar where you can fully administer your domain then.
Option 2 would be that more than one customer ordered the domain which results in a closed auction for these customers, who ordered the domain, being created, which lasts for 3 days ending usually on 18:00h CET. After the auction is over the domain will be awarded to the winning customer and an invoice will be created automatically again, after payment of this invoice the domain will be transfered to your account at our partner registrar.
NOTE: For the first succesful catch you do at catch.info there might happen some minor delays on transfering the domain to your account at our partner registrar of 1-3 days. This is due to the fact that we then need yet to create your account at our partner registrar - for all future catches this doesn´t happen any more.
Section 5 | Auctions
Your proxy bid would so to say bid the next highest possible bid automatically, giving you the option not to be forced to be online everyday at 18:00h CET (that is when auctions usually end) while still not paying more than needed for a domain.
We strongly advise to use the proxy system in the meaning of bidding the amount that you would be willing to pay for the domain at maximum since our proxy agent would only bid if needed any way.
Section 6 | Failure
Section 7 | Accounting
You may pay either by paypal or wire. Paypal payments need to be done through our website (here) and work in real time while wire transfers usually take 2-5 days until the money arrives at our bank account.
Section 8 | INVOICES
Section 9 | Administrating your domains
Exception 1 | Trademark issues
In case you feel that your rights are infringed by a domain that had been caught by a customer of us we politely ask you to wait for those 3 days and then contact our customer directly other than contacting us, when we are only holding the domain on trust for the period of the auction (and until the domain is payed).
If you feel a domain that is about to drop would infringe your trademark or other legal rights we strongly recommend to use our legal rights infringement inquire which gives you a good chance to catch domains on your behalf to prevent expensive law costs. That said sending a legal rights infringement inquire doesn´t automatically mean we will exclusively catch a domain on your behalf. It means that we will investigate your inquire and if we decide that your inquire is legitimate, we will take the domain off our droplist and will exclusively catch the domain on your behalf.
Exception 2 | Auction prolongation
